unable to place order! invalid per order limit, max allowed limit value error

This is a very common error that is faced by new investors. This error is related to collateral and you will get this when you try to place a buy order.

What is causing the “Unable to place order! INVALID PER ORDER LIMIT, MAX ALLOWED LIMIT VALUE” error ?

This error occurs because of collateral. Below are some reasons, read and find out which one applies to you.

You have not loaded any collateral.

For you to be able to place any kind of buy order, you need to load some collateral on your trading/TMS account. Only then you are able to place an order. To learn more about loading collateral click here.

You have loaded collateral using TMS but haven’t called your broker yet.

Yeah this is kinda ironic considering TMS is supposed to be fully automatic. So you load collateral using TMS and it is successful. TMS shows that your trading limits has been increased. You place your order and bam, you get this error. Now you will need to call your broker and tell them that you have loaded your collateral. And after that they will increase your trading limits (takes around 5-10 minutes).

Placing order of more than what collateral or trading limit allows.

Check that you are placing an order below the limit of your trading limits. You can check what your trading limit is on My Information -> General -> Collateral Details tab on your TMS account. Look for trading limits, utilized trading limits and available trading limits.

For example: If you have loaded Rs, 20,000 and your broker allows trading limits up to 4 times (Rs.80,000). Then you can place order up to Rs. 80,000. If you place a buy order of more than Rs. 80,000 then you will get invalid per order limit error.
